triple j hottest 100 top ten 2011- my thoughts

10
Hilltop Hoods- I love it

okay i think my aussie hip hop days have faded away but i will always have a soft spot for Hilltop Hoods. plus it doesn't hurt featuring mega babe Sia. this song is a bit meh to me but i understand why the typical aussie feels it. it's nice to see an Aussie band bring in the top ten.

9
the Jezabels- Endless Summer
this song gives me shivers. awww it's sweet again an Aussie band - horrah you go you good voters. I have nothing bad to say about the Jezabels they're absolutely resonating and make decent music. i can't say i listen to them a lot but it aint such a bad song.

8
360- boys like you
ohhh yeah the one aussie hip hop song i'm  digging at the moment. i guess i'm partial to this because babealicious Mat Cant (Melbourne based amazement dj) tours with 360 (i can say babe cause his girlfriend larrie is even more of a mega babe) plus it's a pretty catch tune.

7
San Cisco- Awkward
ANOTHER AUSSIE GROUP! WOW WOW! this indie band know how to make people smile. aww i think this song is so utterly cute it was my ringtone for a while a couple of months ago. it's so catchy a bit of a "young folks by  peter bjorn and john" feel to it. such a summer feel good song. i honestly can't say i know much about this band in fact i only know this track. butter wouldn't melt.

6
Lana Del Rey- Video Games
ahhh SNOREEEEEEEEEE this song is such a bore. why why why this came in at number 6 i'll never know. it's no secret than i'm not a Del Rey fan. i cant say anything good about this song perhaps and fingers crossed Lana stays in 2011.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

5.
M83-  Midnight City.
ahhh such an M83 fan from back in the Saturdays=Youth days stoked this song landed such a great spot in the countdown. now this is decent music! aww and the band are just so delightfully gorgeous. amazing track, wicked vocals and that saxophone is to die for.impressed with the voters with this track.

4.
Boy & bear- Feeding Line.
okay so i'm not a raging fan of B&B but this track it's not so bad. it's easy listening catchy whistling and gives you that feet tapping urge. again good to see an Australian band in the top 5! but not my favourite of favourite tracks of 2011.

3.
Matt Corby- Brother.
okay i'm going to admit that i've only just been convinced that Matt Corby is the real deal ( it's a little tricky to adore an ex Australian Idol contestant) so going the same direction as Lisa Mitchell turning alt. and hitting up the J's. i'm definitely converted as a fan after hearing his cover of Black Key's Lonely Boy on triple J's Like a Version.whatta voice. really digging the blues feel. i really enjoy the darkness to this song with Matt's sweet, angelic vocals. doesn't help he is also a mega babe. the boy has come a long way from his Superstitious audition on Idol and most certainly in a better direction.

2.
Black Keys- Lonely Boy
fuck yes. sorry excuse my language. but this has got to be one of the best rock songs that came out last year. ohhh man this song is so flippin' good. the film clip alone is absolutely unreal black security guard dancing and singing his little heart out.  hip swinging goodness. everytime this song comes on my speakers i'm always bouncing around and singing. seriously those guitar licks are incredible. well done black keys you good thing you. there's a reason why they're the headliners for Coachella - they are rock geniuses.

1.
Gotye- Somebody that I used to Know feat. Kimbra
there hasn't been this much hype over a number one song since Offsprings Pretty Fly for a White Guy...sigh finally after 6 long years Australia has woken up to how incredible Gotye is. i welled up with tears when i saw that this got number one. it took Wally over two years to perfect this track. i think nearly everyone who has been through heartache can relate to these lyrics. it's gut wrenching but it's all so honest. it's like everything you wish you could say to your ex. unfortunately Gotye bet us all to it so to all the ex's out there this one is for you "you didn't have to cut me off make out like it never happened and now we're nothing. i dont even need your love but you treat me like a stranger and the feels so rough." hello this is my ex to a tee!  with over 50 million hits on youtube the clever body art film clip makes you want Kimbra to turn around for a cheeky peek and Gotye gap teeth and snail trail are so so cute. number one couldn't have gone to a more deserving talented man. thank you Australia you got this right after last year's flop of Angus and Julia Stone. Do people still listen to them?
